Gig-IX

The worldwide, local Internet exchange

What is an Internet Exchange?

An Internet Exchange Point (IXP) is a centralized connection point that allows networks to interconnect on an open-access Ethernet fabric. IXPs improve Internet performance for all participants by increasing bandwidth and decreasing latency for all connected networks.

What is Gig-IX?

Gig-IX is a group of Internet Exchange Points located in datacenters and carrier-hotels across the world. Gig-IX is a not-for-profit en-devour seeking to improve routing in under-served locations by providing free or at-cost Ethernet ports to all networks in a locale.
